John McKeever is one of those players who had big things expected from him due to making a fantastic impression early on in his Motherwell career. Signed from Old Kilpatrick in 1980 the young forward burst onto the scene in fine style in a fixture where he netted twice in a 2-2 draw against Heart of Midlothian in October 1981 at Fir Park
Sadly for John, like many promising youngsters before him, he drifted from the scene and was eventually allowed to leave on a free transfer in 1982, he found the back of the net on 8 occasions in a well jersey. He could have made a name for himself in the lower leagues but for whatever reason he decided to head into junior football with Arthurlie.
