This small winger came to Motherwell’s attention in 1975 and he turned pro after signing from Ashfield Juniors. He was quite pacey but sadly, he couldn’t establish himself while at Motherwell and he left after making one league start and a further two substitute appearances. He moved to Hamilton Accies in 1977, where he flourished. In the 1977/78 campaign, his goal tally was over the double figure mark and he showed he had a good knack for scoring.
