James Sommerville

James Sommerville was a young teenage striker that arrived on the Fir Park scene in 1977 straight from the youth team and that season he was a regular in the reserves putting in a number of impressive performances. It was the following season where he broke into the first team but he was only able to count a mere 3 appearances, but it wasn’t all too bad as he got to play up front with Willie Pettigrew. He did however make additional appearances on the bench, but outings became rarer and rarer. He was yet another promising youngster who failed to make the grade at Fir Park. At the end of 1978/79 season he was given a free transfer.
