Striker John Slavin joined the club in 1946, featuring in the first official season after World War II. Failed to make any impact at Fir Park due to the talented forward line the side had on board. Johns 2 year spell would actually see him make only 1 First team appearance, this coming in the League Cup Group Stages on 19th October 1946 as Motherwell played host to Falkirk and pulled off a stunning 5-3 win with Slavin getting on the Scoresheet. He was allowed to leave in the summer of 1948.
