This 5ft 5ins left winger broke into the ‘Well side during the 1933/34 season. He made his debut alongside reserve team mate Charlie McGillivray in a 3-1 victory over St Mirren at Love Street, the two new boys both were on the score sheet that day. They both joined the club coming from Manchester United. By the end of the campaign he had played four games scoring four times. At one point, Willie was seen as the eventual replacement for the legendary Bobby Ferrier, this was because the depth of skills possessed by the young reserve player. He would later immigrate to South Africa.
