Born in Stevenson on the 10th October 1894, Outside Left, Alexander Thom also known as Alec or Alex is perhaps best remembered for his service with Dumbarton, Hull City and Swindon Town.
The Ayrshire man had started his football career with with with Leven Amateurs before moving onto Yoker before he joined Dumbarton in 1913. Alex joined Motherwell during the 1918/19 season having already served Ayr United during the same campaign but his impact was limited as he would only play one league fixture for the club before moving back to his parent club.
