Sandy Tait played for Ayr and Rangers prior to joining Motherwell not long before the turn of the century. He then moved to Preston North End before joining Tottenham Hotspur. He spent nine seasons and made two F.A. Cup Final appearances for Spurs. After retiring as a player in the 1910 close season, Sandy became the manager of Croydon Common where he would remain for just a single season.
