Mickey Weir came to Motherwell in the veteran stages of his career but gave wonderful service to many clubs and he even scored a ‘Well goal against his beloved Hibernian. His most famous goal came in the dramatic 2-2 draw against Dunfermline Athletic at Fir Park on the last day of the 1996/97 season not to mention teeing up Van Der Gaag from a free kick in the same game which was also a special strike. He became a coach at Motherwell when his playing career came to an end.
