Willie Wardrope was a record breaking goal scorer joined Newcastle before the turn of the century in 1895. Left on a free, played Inside Forward and went on a run scoring 13 goals in nine consecutive games for the Magpies. Played for Middlesbrough, Third Lanark, Fulham, and Swindon Town before returning to Lanarkshire to join Hamilton Acas.
