Match Report
Match Report from BBC
Livingston showed that they would again be a force to be reckoned with in the SPL with an impressive win over Motherwell.
Oscar Rubio put the home side ahead early on and Rolando Zarate doubled the lead before half time.
Zarate added a third before Motherwell mounted a brave comeback.
Scott Leitch scored first, then Dirk Lehmann reduced the deficit to one, but Livi held on for the win.
Livi started well and they nearly opened the scoring in the sixth minute.
Eugene Dadi played a reverse pass into the path of Rolando Zarate but Stevie Woods was alert enough to save.
Motherwell responded a minute later with a snapshot from Stephen Pearson but his effort went just over the crossbar.
But the home side scored the league’s first goal of the new season after only eight minutes, Rubio driving Lee Makel’s corner into the roof of the net.
New signing Zarate looked impressive and he clipped a free-kick wide as Livi continued to dominate.
Motherwell remained positive and Livi keeper Broto made a smart save from striker James McFadden.
The impressive Zarate scored Livingston’s second in 34 minutes, picking up Dadi’s header on the right side of the penalty area before drilling home an excellent strike.
Livi went three ahead just after half-time – Camacho played in Quino who unselfishly squared the ball across the face of the goal for Zarate to easily notch his second goal of the afternoon.
But the visitors pulled a goal back on 50 minutes. Scott Leitch burst through the Livingston defence and finished with the outside of his left foot.
The Lanarkshire side refused to lie down and scored again after 64 minutes.
McFadden was at the heart of the move, wriggling past the attentions of two defenders before curling a left-foot cross which was met by Lehmann to nod in at the far post.
The match became rather heated as Motherwell pushed for an equaliser, with manager Terry Butcher being sent to the stand, but Livi held on for the points
