Fraser Kerr

Fraser KerrFraser Kerr spent six years as a youngster with Motherwell progressing through the clubs youth system before being lured to Birmingham City in 2009 as a 16 year old. With manager Stuart McCall eager to get some defensive cover in for the start of the 2012/13 SPL season he brought Fraser in on trial then subsequently offered him a 6 month loan deal after impressing in the clubs pre-season friendlies. Fraser would make his debut against Kilmarnock in a 2-1 win at Rugby Park. He has been capped by Scotland at U16, 17, 19 and 21 level.

During his time at Fir Park he was often used as cover, despite being a natural centre back Kerr made the vast majority of his appearances either playing at right back or even as a right midfielder, McCall clearly took advantage of the youngster’s pace in this regard. Fraser joined the club on a permanent basis in 2013 after he was released from Birmingham, despite making over 60 appearances for the club it was felt that he never really developed as hoped and he was allowed to move on after the final game of the 2014/15 season.

Kerr’s last act of business at Fir Park was getting involved in the melee with Bilel Mohsni in the 2014/15 playoff final against Rangers at Fir Park which Motherwell soundly won 3-0 (6-1 on aggregate), the Tunisian had reacted violently to a shove from Lee Erwin after he refused a handshake, team mates Kerr and Lionel Ainsworth would get two match bans for their parts in the incident.

After his departure from Lanarkshire he suffered back to back relegations while representing Scottish League One outfits Cowdenbeath and Stenhousemuir before moving to the English lower leagues where he played for Gateshead, Hartlepool United, Torquay United and Chesterfield.
