Frank Lindley joined the club in 1910. The campaign of 1911/12 was historic for the club as they had just appointed there first ever manager John ‘Sailor’ Hunter who of course would serve the club with such distinction for many decades. Lindley did however have the satisfaction of scoring the first goal in front of the new manager in the opening game of the season against Queens Park at Hampden, the game finished 1-1. As the club finished in a lowly 14th in the league, Frank would leave swiftly as the new management looked to build a stronger side.
Lindley fought with the 17th (Service) Battalion of the Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment) during the First World War, he was wounded in battle in August 1916.
