Haitian forward Abel Thermeus was signed by Terry Butcher in January 2006 after impressing in a trial. Nicknamed ‘The Flask’ by ‘Well fans due to his surname, he didn’t make much of an impact at Fir Park as he would only make two fleeting substitute appearances.
Abel made his debut against Celtic in a League Cup Semi Final tie at Hampden where he came on with minutes remaining as Motherwell tried in vain to grab an equaliser. In his second and final appearance, he was sent off for violent conduct after being brought on against Kilmarnock. He was released at the end of the season having failed to carve out any further first team outings.
