Craig Tanner arrived at Fir Park in the Summer of 2017 arriving on a free transfer from Reading. Capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or a winger, the young Englishman enjoyed a fruitful first season with Motherwell which saw him contribute with nine goals with eight assists along with playing pivotal roles in helping the club achieve the tremendous feat of reaching both domestic cup finals in the same season, he appeared in the League Cup Final in a losing effort against Celtic, in the Scottish Cup his goals in earlier rounds were crucial in helping the club progress but sadly he would suffer a serious injury in training which put paid to his season and it sadly would impact the 2018/19 season as he endured a few additional set backs on his road to recovery.
Tanner enjoyed a spell on loan to Plymouth Argyle earlier in his career where he played under former ‘Well midfielder Derek Adams who was the manager of The Pilgrims.
