Started his career at Tannadice with Dundee United before serving Forfar Athletic, its perhaps with Raith Rovers that Scott Thomson is best remembered as he made well over a century of appearances at Stark’s Park, one match in particular sticks out of course and this was the 1994 Scottish League Cup final where against all the odds the team from Kirkcaldy triumphed with the keeper being the hero as the game went into penalties, he managed to save Paul McStay’s spot kick, immediately writing himself into the clubs folklore.
Scott arrived at Fir Park in 1998 when he joined on loan from Hull City, he would serve as back up to Stevie Woods and would only feature in one game for the club, this was against Aberdeen on the last day of the 1997/98 season as Motherwell lost 1-2. Before ending his career he would serve Airdrieonians, Dunfermline Athletic and Brechin City before starting his coaching career. His son Robbie would follow in his footsteps carving out a career as a shotstopper, he was on the books at Celtic and also represented Rochdale, Hamilton and Falkirk to name a few.
